About Emily
Emily Cathrine Rutan is a Los Angeles–based actor, certified sommelier, and wine personality. A graduate of Loyola University Maryland, where she was recognized as a member of the National Theatre Honor Society, Alpha Psi Omega, she later studied musical theater at Circle in the Square in New York City.
Most recently, Emily appeared in the all-female production of Julius Caesar with Bardfest Los Angeles. Her work spans theater, commercials, television, and digital media, and she continues to study improv and scene work in Los Angeles, currently training at The Groundlings. She has also studied at Upright Citizens Brigade as well as with Lesly Kahn, Warner Loughlin, and Anthony Meindl.
In addition to acting, Emily is a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers and has built a following online as a wine educator and influencer, known for blending hospitality, storytelling, and humor through her platform Emily the Somm.
